This circuit offers an extremely rare opportunity to witness the great migration wildebeest river crossing that normally begins from mid-July to late October.Sometimes the crossing may prolong to early November. The wildebeest herds move to the north in early July and pass through the Wagakuria area en route to Masai Mara Game Reserve (gestation ground). In September the herds are spread all over the northern Serengeti and Masai Mara Game Reserve. Rainfall is the main determinant of their annual movement, hence some of the herds might remain in the northern Serengeti area and if the weather changes unexpectedly, it might sometimes bring the herds back to the Maasai Mara area. From October, the herds begin their journey to Serengeti south, ready for the Calving season in early February.
